CIRCUS FOR KIDS!
Annie Olave will introduce students to the exciting world of circus through an introduction to SILKS, ACRO & JUGGLING. This class is geared toward students interested in learning about circus ages 7 to 10.

What to Wear
Students are asked to wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. Please, no zippers or buttons – they like to eat our equipment. We recommend leggings and a tight t-shirt. Gymnastics + dance wear welcome. Bare feet are recommended.

At Monica’s Danz Gym, we believe you’re never too old to come play. We have something for everyone, from young kids to teens and adults. We welcome students of all backgrounds and ages. Take a look at our classes below – whether you’re interested in circus, dance, fitness, or acrobatics, we hope to see you in our space very soon!

Aerial Classes

Take flight while channeling your inner circus artist in the variety of aerial dance classes we have to offer. Gain strength, flexibility, and body awareness in a safe space dedicated to finding freedom in the air. We place our focus on building strength from the ground up in a methodical approach that builds a solid foundation for a sustainable, long-term aerial practice. Classes are offered to a wide range of levels, from those who have never touched an aerial apparatus to advanced placement programs for our more experienced students. We have something for you, too – come play!

NOTE: In order to promote growth of artistry alongside skill development, all aerial dance students (except those in adult classes) are required to register for a supporting dance class in addition to their aerial apparatus training.

Acro / Aerial Mix

Let the adventure begin! Our youngest aerial students begin in a class that blends the artistry of dance with the joy of aerial movement; this fun fusion combines energetic principles of jazz with acrobatic elements of gymnastics and aerial silks.

Students build foundational skills in a safe environment where each individual is encouraged to grow their strength and awareness. Experienced instructors lead students to discover more each class – they’ll be left tired, and hungry for more. This class is perfect for young adventurers who want to experience the best of all worlds!

Ninjas in Training – BOYS ONLY

Dare to be different – experience a new approach to movement in this class tailored to challenge boys to explore, master movement and pursue their strength. Students will obtain agility and flexibility, power and skill; their training will entail acrobatic movement inspired by gymnastics and martial arts, hip hop and aerial silks. Are you ready for the adventure?

Aerial Silks

Explore a new form of movement and test your own strength on silks rigged from the ceiling. In classes led by experienced aerial instructors, students progress from basic elements close to the floor, to challenging skill sequences. We encourage artistry and quality of movement through a mindful approach that builds body awareness and respect for the art.
For those who are afraid of heights, fear not – we progress at a pace that suits our students’ individual needs, and we’ll only go as fast as you feel comfortable.

NOTE: We recommend all students form a foundation of aerial silks training for a minimum of one year prior to moving on to a new apparatus.

Aerial Silks w/ Trapeze

For curious young acrobats who want to test out two apparatus in one class, this class was designed as an introductory course in trapeze and aerial silks. Students build a foundation on both apparatuses, so they can figure out which one they love more! This is perfect transition for those with a background in gymnastics. Layers of clothing are recommended.

NOTE: This is a second year class. Prior experience in aerial silks is required.

Hoop & Trapeze

Come swing and spin with us – if you love the monkey bars, this class is for you! Students build a new vocabulary of strength, elements, and skills on the dance trapeze, static trapeze and aerial hoop. Layers of clothing are recommended.

NOTE: We recommend all students form a foundation of aerial silks training for a minimum of one year prior to moving on to a new apparatus.

Mixed Aerial Apparatus (EXP)

Ready to go beyond silks? In this class, students have the opportunity to explore several apparatuses. In the beginning, we introduce the aerial disciplines of slings, straps, and rope; after a few years of experience, students may be given the opportunity to specialize in the apparatus of their choice. Learn, leverage, innovate.

Mixed Aerial Apparatus (AVD)

Create and explore on the aerial apparatus of your choice in this advanced aerial course. If you have been training at Monica’s Danz Gym for a few years and have developed a solid base in aerial silks, this course may be the next step you are looking for.

Throughout the year, students develop technique and learn what it takes to create an act, having the opportunity to work on their own choreography each week under the guidance of an instructor. In the annual show, students showcase their skills in the solos, duos or trios they have created. Come join us and let the creativity begin!

NOTE: Please talk to the director to see if this course is right for you. Advanced classes are available only to students with a certain level of experience, upon discussion.

Teen Fit (Program)

This is not your average gym membership! Boost your energy and build strength with our work out plan designed for maximum fun. Without the pressure of performing on stage, you’ll tone your muscles and give your brain a break in the company of great people. Join us!

NOTE: The Teen Fit program includes one aerial dance class and one CHISEL class per week. This prevents injury and ensures students develop strength as they learn technique. Students enrolled in this program do not perform in the year end show.

Teen Stage (Program)

Challenge your body and your creativity with our program, Teen Stage. At Monica’s Danz Gym, we believe it is important for artists to develop technique, as well as artistry and the ability to create on their own. You will have opportunities to learn, grow and explore under the guidance of passionate instructors. Join us!

Class options to support aerial apparatus training: Acro Danz, Aerial Style, Acro Fusion or Danz Fusion.

Adult Aerial Silks

Unleash your inner child and explore aerial silks in this fun class tailored specifically to meet the needs of older teens and adults. Reach new levels of flexibility and strength, improving your overall fitness like you never could’ve imagined. Progress from basic moves close to the ground to higher skills at a pace that is right for you, based on individual abilities and consistent attendance of class or training. Flying is the new way to get fit – you’re never too old to play!

Aerial Yoga

Experience a new, supported movement practice as you flow through yoga postures set to soothing music. In this class, you will gain strength and flexibility, lengthen your spine and improve circulation in a way that differs from traditional yoga. Hanging upside down is beneficial for the brain! Our special yoga hammocks enable you to stretch deeper with greater ease – you’ll leave class feeling both accomplished and refreshed. We can’t wait to see you there.

Acro Danz (BEG – EXP)

In this class, students experience a unique combination of dance and gymnastics. We develop strength and create in a safe environment, where each individual is allowed to grow at their own pace. Classes integrate the foundational principles of dance and acrobatic elements of gymnastics into a structured flow set to music.

With a focus on quality of movement and increasing body awareness, this class is the perfect complement to aerial dance training. Students may also choose to take this class on its own.

Acro Danz (INT – ADV)

For experienced students interested to take their acro danz to the next level, MDG has three higher level classes designed to challenge and support them in their journey. Please note these classes are available by invitation only.

Danz Fusion (ages 12+)
Synergy (ages 11+)
The Pulse (ages 14+)

These classes fuse elements of contemporary dance, acrobatic movement and partnering in a blend that builds both technique and creativity. Through creative improv and structured exercises, students begin to establish their own style and learn the process of developing choreography. Students are required to be enrolled in a minimum of one MDG aerial danz class in addition to these classes.

Aerial Style

Explore elements of contemporary dance, ballet, and creative expression in this unique dance class with our aerial hammocks. We challenge students to add their personal style and creativity to an established aerial hammock curriculum while building strength and flexibility. Throughout the season, we focus on adding depth and range to students’ presentation skills, perfect for those looking to enhance their performance on stage. This class is an alternative supporting class for aerial danz training at MDG. Students may choose to take this class on its own.

Acro Fusion

Are you a dancer looking to improve you tumbling skills and acrobatic partnering? This class is for you. Our students are given the opportunity to focus on flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness in order to build skills and expand their acrobatic repertoire.

An element of dance will complement acrobatic skills. Attention will be given to individual needs, and goal setting is strongly encouraged.

Handstands & Flex

Explore the art of hand balancing and stretch your limits in this fun, challenging class with Anastasia Evsigneeva. Students will challenge their core as much as their minds as we turn the world upside down with basic inversions and handstands. With her background in contortion and contemporary dance, Anastasia will also help you improve your passive and active flexibility. Work those splits, girl!

Contortion

For those looking to grow more flexible, whether beginner or more advanced, we have a contortion class option for you. Working both passive and active flexibility in a variety of different ways, Anastasia Evsigneeva will help you push your body to bend in a safe way within a fun environment. Stretching is always better with friends! Come try it out.

CHISEL Flow

Develop your core strength and range of motion – this class will give you a foundation to increase your flexibility in a smart and safe way. We will focus on stretching various areas of the body, building the stabilizers and muscles required to maintain this newfound range. We begin with groundwork to establish a foundation, then flow through sequences with set to music with our aerial hammocks. This is a great class for anyone seeking to improve their basic flexibility, dance or aerial skills. All levels welcome.

BOUNCE

Are you looking for a fun way to feel good, have fun and exercise with your family? This is the class for you! Students will use stability balls large and small, a tumble track, and other props to build strength, flexibility, stamina and body awareness. Shake up your exercise routine and come join us for this fun class! All levels welcome.

Ages: 7+ years

Le Petite Cirque

Circus fun for your little ones! In this class, students will discover and explore new ways to express themselves through an introduction to acrobatic movement, aerial silks, creative dance and theatrical games.

Ages: 3 – 5 years

Clowning Around

Do you have what it takes to be a clown? In this exciting introduction to clowning and physical comedy, students explore mime, improvisation, and character development. We place our focus on developing creativity, team building, confidence, and stage presence through a variety of games and exercises. As a finale to this course, students will have the opportunity to create their very own modern comedy routine!

Ages: 8 to 12 years

Drama Club

Ever dreamed of taking on roles, of stepping on stage and into a character you’ve developed to be your own? We have a class for you. In Drama Club, you will have the chance to work on various elements of acting such as: character development, voice projection, line memorization and movement. Side effects may include (but are not limited to) an increase in experience, stronger stage presence, and most importantly, confidence.

Every actor has what it takes. This is how instructor Jaime England approaches each class – as long as you’re willing to put in the effort, enthusiasm and hard work, you have the potential to grow into an actor.

Ages: 10+ years
